RACE-READY When setting out to develop a race-ready gravity MTB shoe, the feedback we received from top professional athletes was pretty clear: both downhill and enduro racers alike desire a protective and durable shoe to enhance bike control through the pedals. But beyond control, they also wanted the lightweight performance and precise fit found in a more performance- oriented pair, a combination lacking in most shoes for gravity mountain biking. So we went to the drawing board to create a unicorn: A lightweight and nimble, yet rugged, racing shoe that checks all the boxes desired by competition-leading downhill and enduro MTB riders. OUTSOLE AND RIDING CONTROL Let's start with the outsole. Together with your hands on the handlebar, feet are a crucial point of contact when it comes to bike control. The Gravita outsole provides the type of shoe-to-pedal interface you need for fast and aggressive gravity riding, combining the stickiest Vibram XS Trek Evo rubber compound with a specific zonal lug pattern. A low-profile tapered tread pattern positioned at the mid-foot allows for an immediate connection and optimal mechanical interface with the pedal pins, while under the heel and toes, a deeper, sharper tread provides better ground traction when hiking back up the hill. This clip-in version is stiffer than its flat counterpart for better power transfer through the entire pedal stroke, improving pedaling efficiency. Featuring an extended cleat track, the clip-in version enables you to run your cleats further back to allow for dropped heels on descents to improve both stability and control, just as you would when riding flats pedals. PERFORMANCE-ORIENTED PRECISION FIT Both downhill and enduro racing stand out for their short, intense and powerful pedal strokes, whether sprinting out of the start gate or approaching the finish line. Providing proper foot tension and fit is essential to effectively transfer every useful watt of power generated. To avoid wasting watts, we leveraged our decades of design experience and knowledge in creating properly fitting cycling shoes. For the Tensor, we developed an ergonomic lace-up pattern that cradles the foot and spreads tension evenly throughout the pedal stroke. A Powerstrap over the instep secures the fit, stabilizing the plantar arch and locking the heel in place while also keeping laces in check. DURABLE AND PROTECTIVE Intentional engineering went into stripping weight and eliminating the excess material that would otherwise lead to the bulky look and sloppy fit of typical gravity shoes. To avoid this, the Tensor features a slim silhouette and minimal weight provided through the use of innovative rip-stop outer fabrics and an inner lining that is far less absorbent than traditional alternatives. ERGOLACE X2 is a rugged, adaptable, lace-up mountain biking shoe that's true to the roots of off-road riding: tackling every kind of terrain, happy going up and downhill, on and off the bike. It's a trail and all-mountain shoe, and much more besides. Like a do-it-all-mountain bike, Terra X2 shoes are pure versatility in both function and form. Whether it's venturing on alpine tours, sessioning trails or simply escaping for an after-work ride, these shoes ask for adventure. The Ergolace pattern cradles the foot, securing the fit with an ergonomic lace-up closure. The upper offers protection from the elements: its hardwearing ripstop woven fabric resisting tearing and ripping. A PU-laminated toecap and side reinforcements add further protection and durability. We designed the silhouette specifically to reduce bulk and avoid the puffy look of many mountain biking shoes – it's ready to blend in with civilization when the backcountry missions are complete. The X2 outsole expresses the versatility of these shoes: engineered to deliver an optimal balance between efficient pedaling performance and flexibility for comfort and control, on and off the bike, so riders are covered for those hike-a-bike moments. The compressed-EVA midsole provides stability and cushioning, while the Vibram rubber tread ensures grip and traction, whatever the conditions underfoot. The directional lug pattern has been designed for confident footing on clipless pedals, with spacing and depth designed to bite into softer soil and a compound ideal for gripping on slick rocks. Tough, light, comfortable and versatile, the fi’zi:k Terra X5 MTB shoe delivers winning all terrain performance, with adaptive fit, trail protective materials and pronounced treads for off-road grip. Because Terra X5’s asymmetric opening is fastened by a single micro-adjustable Boa L6 Dial B dial running a steel-coated nylon lace through tough, light, ‘Slipstream’ plastic guides, and combined with a 25mm microfiber and Velcro strap, it’s easy and quick to get a precision fit for any foot shape. That optimum fit means comfort and performance. Its Laser Perforated Microtex upper and lightweight, breathable inner mesh provide flexible support and cooling while the thicker tongue material provides vital trail impact protection. The Composite Carbon Fiber vented outsole and fi’zi:k Cycling Insole combine to give support, comfort and tremendous power transfer. It has light, tough woven tape heel loops for carrying and storage.
